Each piece available on the A Sprinkle of Deco and Art catalogue will have unique characteristics and marks that differ from the models displayed on our website or in our showrooms. Below, we provide some advices and suggestions that will help you care for your A Sprinkle of Deco and Art items.

Do not leave your accessories for prolonged periods in direct sunlight as this will accelerate the ageing process.

Avoid the accessories to become wet in any way. Act promptly using warm water to clean off spillages or food, as even just 10 minutes can be enough for red wine or coffee stains to become permanent.

Avoid locating items directly under or in front of hot lamps, strong lighting, radiators, fireplaces or any other form of naked flame or heat source.

All items crafted by A Sprinkle of Deco and Art ‘s artisans are best maintained at a temperature of between 68 and 74 degrees Fahrenheit, with a relative humidity between 40 and 45 percent. This may require the use of humidifiers, dehumidifiers and / or heating / air conditioning depending on the season. Follow manufacturer’s recommendations when using these systems. Avoid placing fine accessories near heating or air-conditioning outlets. If this is impractical, use a shield or guard to direct the air flow away. Exposure to extreme temperature and / or humidity variations can damage any items, including variations caused by humidifiers, radiators, fireplaces, or space heaters. Your accessories can best handle variations that happen gradually. Abrupt changes increase the risk of potential damage.

To maintain the condition and beauty of your upholstered seat or tapestry, avoid exposing it to humidity, direct sunlight and extreme heat or cold.  In order to maintain the original smoothness and elasticity of the cushions, massage the sponges regularly. If your seat is made of silk or velvet, brush the surface with a soft cloth to remove dust.

If you spill anything on the upholstery, remove the stain without rubbing. Do try to avoid spillages on suede furnishings, as removing such stains is extremely difficult.

Plump and then vacuum your upholstery to stop the dust and dirt from working its way into the fabric.

General maintenance, proper placement and cleaning techniques will help your silk flower arrangements look their best and last for a very long period of time.
Place the arrangement in an area that is out of the direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can fade the silk and other materials over time, leading to a dull appearance. Even if your home or office is constructed with “low E” glass that blocks most ultraviolet light, leaving the arrangement in direct sunlight will cause damage. Place the arrangement in partial shade, or move it out of direct sunlight frequently.
Dust the flowers with a feather duster each time during your regular dusting routine. This option is best for the arrangement if it has only a tiny layer of dust and debris. Move the feather duster lightly over the arrangement using quick, brisk strokes.

Use a soft-bristled brush, such as a paint brush, to get rid of dust in and around intricate petal parts that need individual attention as well as heavier layers of dust. Grasp each petal with your fingers, and brush dust from the middle of the flower to its outer edge.

Other techniques include: Blow light dust off the arrangement with a hair dryer on its cool setting or you can use a can of compressed air that you would use to clean a computer keyboard. These can be a quick alternative to more thorough dusting or brushing and can quickly perk up the appearance of the arrangement. We do not recommend using a vacuum cleaner. Some parts of the arrangement may be fragile and using a vacuum cleaner could easily cause damage.
